Class information and registration for Yang Style Tai Chi, offered to the public at Santa Ana College through their Community Education program. With certified instructor Stephen Bay, who has over 20 years of experience teaching Tai Chi in California and Japan.

Santa Ana College โ€” 2026 Fall Semester Schedule

There will be three classes offered in the fall, each one with a special focus:

  • Tai Chi Level 1 (Basic Exercises and Foundational Techniques)
  • Tai Chi Level 2 (Forms and Applications for intermediate and advanced students)
  • Qigong and Tai Chi Exercises (Online, with a focus on standing meditation instead of forms)

Tai Chi Level I (Basic Exercises and Foundational Techniques)

Practice the basic exercises of Yang style Tai Chi, which studies have shown can help lower blood pressure, improve balance, build up strength, increase flexibility, and more. You’ll also work on foundational techniques and the beginning of the traditional Yang Style Tai Chi form.

Tai Chi Level II (Forms and Applications)

In this intermediate/advanced class, you’ll build upon the exercises taught in Tai Chi I and learn the traditional Yang style Tai Chi solo forms, the partner form, and the fast form, along with self-defense applications and stretching and breathing exercises. Prerequisite: Must have completed Tai Chi Level I: Basic Exercises, Qigong and Tai Chi Exercises, or have some previous experience with Tai Chi.

Qigong and Tai Chi Exercises (Online)

Learn qigong breathing and relaxation techniques, along with Tai Chi standing meditation and basic exercises, to reduce stress, improve balance, and enhance your overall well-being. All levels are welcome. Must have Zoom to participate.

Parking Information

  • FOR LEVEL 1 on SATURDAYS and LEVEL 2 on TUESDAYS: Park in Lot 1, which is just north of Building G, where our classes meet.
  • Parking is $2 per day for 8 hours maximum. Daily permits can be purchased at dispensers or you can pay online (recommended, and can save money if you pay for the semester) via the link sent to you by Santa Ana College.

What to Wear

No need for uniforms or special gearโ€”just wear loose, comfortable clothing and workout shoes that have flat soles with a good grip. For your own safety, do not wear sandals, high heels, or slippers.
